3M Seafood S.A. is much more than just a production plant. Founded in 2020, it embodies an ambitious vision: to enhance Mauritania’s exceptional maritime resources by creating quality finished products, made by Mauritanians, for Mauritanians. Located in Nouadhibou, the country’s economic capital, our company is the first national cannery to produce sardines under the TEKANE brand, which proudly bears the name of a symbolic city in Trarza, a tribute to the country’s cultural richness and unity.
Noting that thousands of tons of sardines, a flagship local fishery, were underexploited and being processed into fishmeal, we saw a unique opportunity to create added value locally. This is how the idea of launching a modern plant equipped with cutting-edge technology was born, including a freezing unit with a capacity of 110 tons per day and a canning production line.
In December 2022, the inauguration of our factory marked a major turning point in the local fishing industry. Since then, we have continued to strengthen our production capacity and establish strong partnerships with local stakeholders, with the aim of supporting the economic and social development of the Nouadhibou region and Mauritania as a whole.
